ICT Week June 8th - 11th
ICT Week is currently in full swing. All classes are using the ultra modern technology available in the school to complete various activities and projects. Classes are using our ICT room, digital cameras, voice recorders, webcam and programs such as Word, Excel, Movie Maker and Skype. 6th class are currently producing a short film which will be shown next week. Stay tuned for more details



Sports Day 2010
On Wednesday the 26th of May we celebrated our annual Sports Day. It was an outstanding success with numerous fun activities including obstacle course, gymnastics, Bouncing Castles and also our infamous Waterslide. Great fun was had by all. We would like to thank everybody for their support.

EBS Handwriting Competition
Congratulations to Joe from Ms. Dillon's first class who won a prize for his outstanding handwriting entry. Joe travelled to the Horse and Jockey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary to attend the prize giving ceremony
Poetry Blast
Last week we held a very succesful Poetry Blast in our school. Children were asked to compose their own poems and here are digital recordings of the various prize winners.

Taoiseach opens new ICT room
The Taoiseach Mr. Brian Cowen arrived this morning to open the ultra modern ICT room in our school. Months of hard work, by the whole school community, were rewarded as Mr. Cowen also opened new classrooms and raised the school's second green flag.

Corville Literacy Week

Corville Literacy Week will take place 1st March - 5th March with the emphasis this year on "Poetry". On Monday Larry O'Loughlin, renowned poet and storywriter, will read poetry with all classes throughout the school.
Thursday is our Poetry Blast competiton where children will be encouraged to write thier own poems and win fantastic prizes. help from home is encouraged and websites such as http://www.fizzyfunnyfizzy.com are great sources of ideas.
The annual Book Fair will take place in the school from March 4th to March 11th and parents are invited to come and see the great selection of books on sale on the 8th, 9th and 10th.
Tennis in Corville
Tennis is well underway in Corville this year, under the guidance of Ms. Dillon. Last Monday, esteemed tennis coach Kieran Galvin (Tennis Ireland) visited our school. Sixth class were the lucky class chosen to work with Kieran. We had so much fun and he had lots of tennis tips for us. He showed us all the shots – forehand, backhand, volley and serve. It’s not as easy as it looks! Time for us to get practising now!

Christmas Concert
This Monday night, 21st of December Junior I.nfants, Senior Infants and 1st class will perform their Christmas concert in the Rackett Hall at 7.00pm. A special thanks to the management of Rackett Hall for offering their facilities to the school. Good luck children.
E-Twinning National Quality Label
Ms Kay O Regan of Léargas presents a trophy to Claire in recognition of the collaborative project 6th class completed last year - European Online Magazine. With the help of twelve other European countries we designed and published a magazine which showed varios customs, traditions and lifestyles in the various countries. Well done Rang a Sé.
CD Launch

"Corville's Christmas Crackers" the brilliant CD launched by the school on Wednesday night is being well received by the local community. The school choir sang a repetoire of songs in Supervalue on Wednesday night to the delight of local shoppers. CD's are still available for purchase but hurry as stocks are running out.
Gifts4fones

We would like to thank Gifts4fones, a national company that sent us a new and amazing "Interactive White Board" for the old mobile phones that the children, their parents and their teachers collected over the past few months.
We began collecting old mobile phones last March and with a huge collective effort we successfully managed to acheive our goal and have a new smart board fitted in our fifth class room. We are delighted to be able to use this fantastic resource in our school and can see the benefits on a daily basis.
Our Principle, Mr John Slattery and staff would especially like to thank Mr. Noel Butler who co-ordinated this project from Dublin and assisted in giving the school an amazing Christmas present.

Irish Dancing Club
We started our Irish Dancing Club on the 5th of November. We are currently learning the "Siege of Ennis". We have great fun with our teacher Ms. Greene.
Maths Week Mon 12th - Fri 16th
Maths is Fun

This week we will have fun with Maths, both inside and outside the classroom. We will show that Maths is fun by playing games and using figures, decimals, percentages and fractions in fun and unusual ways. Watch this space!!
Visit of Irish Author

Celebrated Irish author and illustrator Oisin McGann visited our school on Wednesday 29th September. He read excerpts from his Mad Grandad series of short stories and showed the children how to illustrate one of the characters.
Rugby Silverware

Monday 28th - Great excitement in school as Ireland's rugby silverware arrived for all the kids to see. The Triple Crown and Six Nation trophies were proudly held high by the children.
Back to school
